Daniel G. Selby, 61, of Waco, Texas, formerly of Monaca, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, July 18, 2016. Dan, known affectionately as \”Danny\” by his siblings and \”Uncle Big Guy\” by his niece, Eileen, will be sadly missed by all.He was born July 6, 1955, in Rochester, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Frank and Nellie Selby of Monaca, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry Selby and Charles Selby of Pennsylvania, and Joseph Selby of Wyoming.He is survived by one brother, Thomas Selby of Delaware, as well as three sisters, Margaret (Tim) Stuart of Pennsylvania, Geraldine Selby of Pennsylvania, and Marlene (Paul) Stock of Texas, three sisters-in-law, Dolly Selby and Nancy (Selby) Morris of Pennsylvania, and Kate Selby of Wyoming, and numerous nieces and nephews.He is a graduate of Monaca High School, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Ohio State University.Throughout his life, Dan worked as a Database Programmer for NCR, TransAmerica, IBM, and currently he was employed by the Texas Farm Bureau in Waco, Texas.Much of his free time was spent hiking, traveling, and studying mathematics, history, geography, philosophy, economics, and various cultures. He was a quiet, thoughtful man, willing to help when needed.His family and friends will miss him immensely.
