MARY SCARSELLA (MARIA GAROFALO) of MonacaMary Scarsella 92, of Monaca, passed away on February 12, 2018 at her residence.Born on February 1, 1926 in Pacentro, Province of Aquila, Italy. Daughter of the late Marco and Adelina (DiPilla) Garofalo. She came to America at age 9 and resided in West Aliquippa, PA for 21 years. She graduated on May 24, 1945 from Aliquippa High School.After graduating high school, she held jobs at Murphy’s 5 & 10 for 8 months and the J&L tin mill in Aliquippa for 12 years. After raising her children, she returned to work at the Monaca High School for 12 years.Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Zefferino “Adrian” Scarsella, two sons, David Scarsella (Leslie Baldwin), Dennis Scarsella (Elaine Blank) and one daughter, Deanna Scarsella Ablog (Fred Ablog), eight grandchildren; Adrianne (Tommy) Kaminsky, Abbey (Josh) Stiger, Adele (Donnie) Rinchuse, Alyse Scarsella, Andrew Ablog (Krisit Woerner), Athena (Zack) Wahal, Aaron Ablog, and Alison Ablog, six great grandchildren, Rocco and Pia Kaminsky, Nico and Nina Rinchuse, Maria Stiger and Ella Wahal, her brother, Raymond Garofalo, a sister in law and brother in law, Delia and Dino Leone, two nephews, Frank and Eddie Leone, her nieces Laura Corrado (Godchild), Elaine Gardner, Marian Leo (Godchild) and her nephew James Corrado, along with many other nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Elisa in 1925, and her sister Christina Corrado in 2009 and Christina’s husband, Rinaldo Corrado in 2013.In Mary’s own words:“My love and prayers to each and every one of you. She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.Friends will be received on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where prayers will be offered on Saturday at 7:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Father Michael Ruffalo will be the celebrant.
