Richard E. Smith, 69, of New Sewickley Township, passed away, Thursday, August 27, 2015.Born December 29, 1945, he was a son of the late Clarence E. and Bertha A. (Majors) Smith. Raised in Monaca, Rick was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, and furthered his education with a master’s degree in theology at Trinity Christian College in Illinois. He worked for a number of years as the physical plant director at Geneva College and was instrumental in the relocation of Route 18 near the campus. He later relocated to Boynton Beach, FL, where he gained employment as the residual director with Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.He leaves a son, Major Kirk Smith, USAF, and his wife, Rebecca, in Hawaii; a daughter, Melanie Smith of New Sewickley Township; three grandchildren, Riley Beegle and Carter and Robert Rushing. He will also be sadly missed by his siblings, Louise (Elmer) Preston of Monaca, Ronald (Phyllis) Smith of Enon Valley, Jack T. (Evelyn) Smith of Center Township, Paul (Jane) Smith of Monaca, Mary (Nick) Hodnick of Monaca, Robert Smith of Cranberry Township and William T. (Ana) Smith of Rochester Township; a sister-in-law, Patricia Smith of New Sewickley Township and numerous nieces and nephews.Friends will be received Saturday, August 29th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, and Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. at Monacrest Free Methodist Church, 995 Elmira Street, Monaca. Rev.
