Joanna Mae Fleming, 80, of Monaca, was reunited with her family in Heaven on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.
Born April 26, 1938 in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Adolph and Eleanor Birner. Joanne was employed by the Celtic Reds Athletic Club for over 40 years. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she enjoyed dinners with her family, watching her five sons’ and grandchildren’s numerous sporting events, putting the “guys” in their place and watching and talking sports at the Celtics.
She leaves behind five devoted sons whom she raised by herself, Frank “Bunky” and Nanette Fleming, Robert “Bobby” Fleming, Brook and Marcie Fleming, Bruce Fleming, and Brian “BJ” and Lori Fleming, her cherished grandchildren, Brent and Tara Fleming, Bryson Fleming, Bobby and Rachel Fleming, Brittany and Brianna Fleming, Bruce “BC” and Rachael Fleming, and Brian and Bailie Fleming, two great grandchildren Emma and Alexis Fleming. She also leaves her very special granddaughter who was the light of her life, Stacey Fleming, who was the daughter she never had. In addition she leaves an aunt, Patty Brant. She was always very grateful for her close friends, Patty Paladina, Marlene Craig, and Irene Grandovic as well as Jimmy Cerovola and all of her friends at the Celtics.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margie Harpold and her in-laws, Peg and Frank Fleming.
We were very blessed to have celebrated her 80th birthday with all of her family and friends at the Celtic Reds Club this past April.
Friends will be received on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca followed by a prayer service at 7:00 pm.
Due to her love of her “grand-dogs”, Chloe, Rocco, Bella, Klaus, and Millile, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Beaver County Humane Society.
