Agnes A. (Hojdila) Makowiecki, 85, of Monaca, was reunited with her late husband, Henry, on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, surrounded by all of her children.Born January 23, 1929, in Braddock (Allegheny Co.), she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Hojdila. Agnes was the widow of Henry J. Makowiecki, Sr., who preceded her in death on December 20, 2010. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca, and a longtime member of the Polish National Alliance in Monaca. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Agnes delighted in being with her family and cooking for everyone. Family barbecues and boat rides were special summertime activities. She looked forward to visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When Henry was alive, they enjoyed dancing, with their specialty being polkas. She liked playing bingo and enjoyed life to the fullest.She will be sadly missed by her five children, Henry J. Makowiecki, Jr. and Ed Makowiecki, both in Colorado, Martha Hodak and her husband, Dave, of Brighton Twp., Tom Makowiecki and his wife, Ann, of Altoona and Mary Jane Makowiecki of Chicago, Ill; her beloved grandchildren, Cynette, Clint, Eddie, Christine, Aaron, Sean, Mike, Ashley, Kim, Tya, Bobby and April; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George and Mike Hojdila, both of Monaca; two brothers-in-law, Nick and John Makowiecki and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband and parents, Agnes was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Paul and Rich Hojdila and a sister, Mary Mitro.Friends will be received Friday, April 25th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered Saturday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
