Albert D. Roll, 83, of Economy Borough, formerly of Monaca, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday evening, December 15, 2016.Born May 2, 1933, in Beaver, the son of the late Albert C. and Beatrice (Dunbar) Roll. Following graduation from Beaver High School, Albert entered the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in 1953. While stationed at Camp Drum in New York, he met the former Helen M. Willard to whom he was united in marriage on May 1, 1955.He retired from LTV Steel Corp. as a supervisor after 42 years of service. He was a member of Four Mile Presbyterian Church in Brighton Township where he was active in several church groups including LOGOS, Table Parents and the Grandparents Circle. He loved to fish and travel on vacations with his favorite destination being Montana. Albert was a life member of the Monaca Turners and a past member of the American Legion Post #580. Above all, he was a dedicated husband and father.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by his daughter, Becky (Terry) Frank and two sons, Gregory (Tina) Roll and Mark Roll; his granddaughter, Hayley Roll who was the light of his life, and two sisters, Beatrice (Richard) Cooper and Shirley Bertram.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Edmiston, Verna Roll and Billie Bradshaw.The family would like to thank the staff of Hearts 2-Gether Homes for their kindness, friendship and dedication in helping to make dad feel loved and at home. The family would also like to thank Gateway Hospice for their care and compassion.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 19th from 3 to 7 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, (724) 728-4000, where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Linda McKenzie, Gateway Hospice chaplain officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Sylvania Hills.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made be made, if desired, to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Road, Center Township, PA 15001.
