Albert Joseph Albano passed away on March 31, 2017, on the eve of his 85th birthday, in Brighton Wellness and Rehab Center, Beaver, Pennsylvania.He was born on April 1, 1932, in Ellwood City, PA, the seventh of eight children to Nicola and Maria Carmela Albano, emigrants from Serra San Bruno, Calabria, Italy. He suffered a birth injury which disabled him. Albert attended Hartwood Elementary in Ellwood city and attended Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mother Church (since renamed Holy Redeemer Church) in Ellwood City.Albert was orphaned in his teens and was placed in the Polk State School and Hospital in Franklin, PA. He was emancipated in the late 1970’s and managed to live independently, later marrying his wife, Sarah. Albert enjoyed drawing and painting and lived a quiet and dignified life. He was formerly employed at the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe.Albert was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sisters, Frances (Carmen) Pagano (Walter) Pawlowski (Lou) Scholl, Sara (James) Balla, Jenny (Louis) Di Thomas, Rosie (Bill) Thomas, and Lena (Bill) Palm (Paul) Zatkovich; and a brother, Domenick (Virginia) Albano.He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sarah (nѐe Duncan), of Brighton Wellness and Rehab Center; and by his beloved younger brother, Salvatore ‘Sammy’ (Donna) Albano of Moore, Oklahoma.
