Alberta A. Leininger, 92 years young, of Monaca, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley, Beaver surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ford City, she was the last surviving child of the late John and Alice Ann Harmon.
After graduating from Aliquippa High School in 1948, Alberta gained employment with G.C.Murphy’s Department Store where she met her loving husband of 64 years, Bill Leininger. They were united in marriage on January 16, 1951 and shared five daughters together. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren, making frequent trips to the Dollar Tree, snagging the best deals at Boscov’s and absolutely dominating every bingo game she ever played.
She will be sadly missed by her five daughters; Alice James and her husband, John of Downingtown, Patty Millich and her husband, Bob of Austintown, OH, Susan Leininger of Beaver, Joan Rinker and her husband, Marty of Slippery Rock, and Judy Shaffer and her husband, Tom of Cranberry Township, seven grandchildren whom she passionately adored, Allison (Chris) Rehmann, Tom James, Taylor Millich, Jenna (C.G.) Mercatoris, Brett Rinker, Joel Shaffer, and Kyle Shaffer and four great grandchildren, Paige Rehmann, Owen Rehmann, Aidan James, and Everlea James along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Alberta was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William C. Leininger on October 31, 2015 and her four siblings, Bill Harmon, Eugene Harmon, Rachel Heaton, and Lois Raymond
Friends will be received on Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the SIMPSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, PA (724-728-4000) where parting prayers will be offered on Monday, August 1st at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM at Mary, Queen of Saints Parish, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.
In honor of her husband’s military service, interment will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made, if desired to either Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver or Beaver Meadows, c/o St Barnabas.
