Alfred ‘Dean’ Fehr, 89, of Monaca, passed away Monday morning, April 10, 2017.Born December 29, 1927, in Conway, he was a son of the late, Edward and Emma (Hays) Fehr. Dean attended Ambridge High School and served in World War II with the Merchant Marines. He was a retired employee of A&S Railroad where he worked as a brakeman conductor for over 33 years. An avid camper, hunter and fisherman, Dean enjoyed attending car cruises and was a genealogy enthusiast. Dean was a member of the American Legion, N.A.R.V.R.E., YMCA, and a 60-year member of UTU (United Transportation Union).In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Wilma Cassidy Fehr in 1998, a daughter, Jean Fehr Klacik in 2008, six sisters, Mary Brandenburg, Ruth Kober, Marion Clayton, Opal Bergman, Geraldine Kissel and Erma Boyle, and a brother, Thomas Fehr.Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Steve Podolak and a son-in-law, Michael Klacik, all of Center Township; a granddaughter, Sunny Podolak of Mechanicsburg; a grandson, Stephen (Elizabeth) Podolak of Center Township; a granddaughter, Valerie Klacik (Patrick) McConnaughy of Portland, OR; three great-granddaughters, Riley Nelson of Mechanicsburg, and Lily and Nora Podolak of Center Township; two great-grandsons, Jackson and Elliott McConnaughy of Portland, OR, and several nieces and nephews.Per Dean’s request there will be no visitation and funeral services will be private.
