Alice J. “Jo” Gallagher, 91, of Monaca, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver following an extended illness.
She was born to the late Jesse J. Smith and Alice Elizabeth (Simmons) Smith on March 25, 1927 in Carnot, PA.
Alice previously worked for Kretchmar’s Bakery in Rochester, PA. She later worked for Anchor Hocking where she retired from the Decorating Department after 20 years of service. Alice was a member of the Aliquippa Christian Assembly.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Donald L. Gallagher, Sr. who preceded her on August 15, 2015. She was also preceded by her siblings, George Smith, Bertha Grossman, Edward Smith, Hazel Kitchen, Jessie Stanko, Faye Smith, and Charles Smith.
She is survived by her son, Donald L. Gallagher, Jr. and a daughter, Susan Kelly, five grandchildren, 15 great-granchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Friends and family will be received on Friday from 2:00 to 7:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where funeral services will be held after the visitation on Friday at 7:00 pm with Reverend John (Jack) Robison, Associate Pastor of Aliquippa Christian Assembly officiating. Interment will be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.
