Alice Ruth McConnell, 83, of Vanport, went home to the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. Her passing occurred at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley, Brighton Township.
Born July 27, 1930, in Waynesburg, Alice worked many years for A. K. Nahas in Vanport, A-Plus Mini Market in Beaver, CoGo?s in Industry. She was later employed at Round Town Gas Station in Moon Township from where she retired. Alice was known for her huge collection of dog figurines, amassing over 5,500 and was featured on KDKA-TV2 with Dave Crawley and Fox Cable Network?s ?Collectibles Show?. Many of her collectibles came from Rogers, Ohio.
She leaves her loving husband, Charles E. McConnell, Sr.; a sister, Wahneeta Knisely; six children, Linda Bennett, David (Marty) McConnell, Charles McConnell II, Kim (Paul) Mohney, Ralph Raymond McConnell and Mike (Marcy) McConnell; five grandsons, Jay, Chris, Andrew, Mikey and Mathew; five granddaughters, Jessica (Mike) Rowley, Nicole Toma and Megan, Melissa and Brittany McConnell; three great-grandsons, Tyler Rowley, Nate McConnell and Brayon Toma and two great-granddaughters, Brenna Toma and Ashley Bennett.
Friends will be received Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. in Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca.
