Andrew C. ‘Baggie’ Wilczek, Jr., 85, a lifelong Monaca resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at his residence.Born Nov 1, 1928, he was a son of the late Andrew C. and Josephine Anna (Wisz) Wilczek.Following graduation from Monaca High School in 1948, Baggie entered the U.S. Army and honorably served his country during the Korean War. He retired in 1991 from the Monaca Water Department and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca and the VFW Post No. 4653. Some of Baggie’s favorite pastimes were reading, listening to a variety of types of music and enjoyed watching sports.He is survived by a son, Andrew C. Wilczek III and his wife, Paula of Monaca; two brothers, Chester Wilczek of Monaca and Edward Wilczek and his wife, Judy of Rock Port, MO, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.In addition to his parents, Andrew (in 1965) and Josephine (in 1985), Baggie was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy (Wilczek) Russin, in 1980, and a brother, Robert Wilczek, in 2012.Friends will be received today from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca (724-728-4000), where prayers will be offered on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.
