Ann Dvorzak, 96, formerly of Conway, passed peacefully into her heavenly home after one more kiss and hug from family at Beaver Meadows, St. Barnabas Health System. Born in McKees Rocks, Ann spent most of her life in Conway, a town she dearly loved. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Anastasia Yurchak Paslawski.
Ann was a graduate of Freedom High School Class of 1944 and the Ambridge Area School of Practical Nursing Program in 1966. She worked in the Emergency Room at the former Rochester Hospital.
Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 27 years, John; sisters Mary (John) Zatyk and Helen (Stanley) Rydzeski; and a friend of 75 years, Genny Adams. She is survived by a sister, Alice (Walt) Dukat of Carlsbad, CA. Also surviving are a son, William (Gretchen) Dvorzak, New Sewickley Township, and daughters Helen (Dennis) Bloom and Kathy (Jim) Smith of Monaca; five grandchildren, Sean (Marian) Bunney, Adam Dvorzak (Leah Rice), Keith (Shannon) Bloom, Craig (Valerie) Bloom, and Jessie Dvorzak (Ted Alden); three great-grandchildren, Niko Bunney, Heath and Quinn Bloom. She is also survived by her pet cockatoo, Sammie, whom she cared for and taught to speak hundreds of words and phrases, providing companionship for many years.
A prayerful and devout Catholic, Ann was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Peace Church, serving in the Christian Mothers and as a Eucharistic Minister to shut-ins at Conway Towers.
Along with her husband John, Ann performed Tamburitzan music with the Beaver Valley Senior Strings. She was a member of the Monaca American Legion Auxiliary Post 580. Ann enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, attending football games to watch her grandchildren play, and any and all outings and trips to which she was invited. Mom was a wonderful homemaker and baker, famous for her halupki, pierogies and nut and poppyseed rolls which she graciously shared. Her family was everything to her and she will be loved and missed by all.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, November 2nd at the Simpson Funeral and Cremation Service, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca from 2 to 7 pm, where a service will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at 10:45 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at St. Luke the Evangelist (the former Our Lady of Peace Church), Third Avenue, Conway. Interment will follow at Saints Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, 1691 Ridge Road Extension, Ambridge.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in memory of Ann be made to St. Barnabas Charities, 5850 Meridian Road, Gibsonia, PA 15044.
We are grateful and thankful to the entire staff of Beaver Meadows for Mom’s kind and compassionate care.
