Anna Z. Kamicker, 87 of Monaca died Friday evening, June 16, 2017 at Heritage Valley, Beaver.Born December 8, 1929 in West Aliquippa, she was one of five children born to the late Stephen and Barbara Zugay.A devout member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca since childhood, Anna and Louis J Kamicker were married in St John’s in 1953. She was also a member of the church’s Christian Mothers when her children were of school age. In the late 1960’s, Anna gained employment with the former Rochester Hospital as a clerk/typist , then later with Penn State ,Beaver as a faculty secretary. Her last employment was with Stone & Webster Engineering Co. as an executive secretary for the site manager when Unit 2 of the Shippingport nuclear power plant was being built, retiring in the 1990’s.A graduate of Monaca High School, class of 1948, Anna attended CCBC (Community College of Beaver County) in the 1980’s while working full time.Her family remembers her generosity and her contentment and ability (with the help of several wonderful neighbors) to remain in her home which her husband built in the 1950’s until her passing.In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Louis on February 4, 2006. She was also preceded by three sisters: Mary Cinderich, Dorothy Swiatek and Catherine G. ‘Gerri’ Zugay and a brother, John Zugay.She is survived by three daughters: Dr. Barbara Kamicker and her husband, Dr. John Jasper of Niantic, CT., Jerri Kamicker and her husband, Ned Brooks of Annapolis, MD., and Theresa Kamicker and her husband, Peter Salassi of Greensboro, N.C. A son, Louis J Kamicker, Jr. and his wife, Judith of McKees Rocks. Five grandchildren: Amanda, Hope, Claire, Philip and Gina Marie.Friends will be received on Thursday, June 22nd from 4PM – 7PM in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Service , 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where prayers will be offered on Friday at 9:30 AM followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 AM in St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca, Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
