Arthur V. Bender, 82, of Monaca passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 9, 2018 in Critical Care Unit of Heritage Valley, BeaverBorn on January 23, 1936, he was the son of the late Harry Humm and Olive (Holland) Bender. Art served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. A man with an outgoing personality and a strong work ethic, Art was a retiree of Colonial Steel, Monaca and for the past 41 years was busy painting, plastering, and completing numerous home improvement projects as a self employed contractor. An avid hunter and fisherman his entire life, he enjoyed traveling with his son on many “out of state” hunting trips. He also was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 580, SOI, Beaver Valley Sportsman’s Club and Monaca Bandroom.In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary in 2008, two brothers; Jack and Harry “Pooch” Bender.He leaves his wife, Judi; a daughter, Donna Neely; three sons; Doug of Colorado, Michael (Jerry) of Florida and Tony Caltury of Monaca, his twin sister, Arlette Burkett of Columbiana, OH, eight grandchildren; Emily (Justin) Snyder of Utah, Doug (Melissa) Bender of Indiana, Jeremy (Amber) Morris of Monaca, Jon Neely, Ian Neely, Mike Caltury of Monaca, Tony (Beth) Caltury of Center Township, and Adam (Erica) Caltury of New Jersey, several great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law; Mrs. Harry “Pooch”(Marcia) Bender and Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Bender, both of Beaver, a “brother-in-law”, Bob Davidson and good friends; Jane Cerilli, Carol (Bob) Nebel, Arnie Smith, Jane (Bob) Adams, along with a host of valuable friends too many to list.Friends will be received on Sunday, August 12th from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 6:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca with Reverend Angela Smith officiating.
