Attilio DiBacco, 98, of Monaca, was reunited with his wife, son and family, on Wednesday morning, December 10, 2014.Born August 11, 1916, in Pratola Peligna, (L’Aquila) Italy, he was a son of the late Dominico and Carmella (DiSimoni) DiBacco. Mr. DiBacco proudly served in the Italian Army during World War II. He followed his brother to the United States in 1949 and settled in Monaca. He soon gained employment as a steelworker with Teledyne Steel in Monaca and following his retirement, he worked for the Borough of Monaca from which he also retired. A member of St. John the Baptist Church of Monaca, he was also a 50-plus-year fraternal member of the Monaca Sons of Italy. He enjoyed playing cards in the afternoon at the club after his retirement. Attilio returned annually to his hometown in Italy during April to attend the Feast of Maria SS. Della Libera. The family fondly remembers his preparing and hosting spaghetti dinners in his home on Sundays. They also remember Attilio’s homemade wine, made from whole grapes not grape juice.In addition to his parents, Attilio was preceded by his loving wife, Josephine (DiCristofaro) DiBacco on March 19, 1981; a son, Anthony DiBacco; a sister, Ida DiBacco Jainantonio; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Vincent and Mary DiBacco and Emilio and Trieste DiBacco.He will be sadly missed by two sons, Dominic DiBacco and his wife, Virginia, and Sam DiBacco and a daughter-in-law, Sheila DiBacco, all of Monaca; four grandchildren, Kim (Greg) Santillo, Ryan DiBacco, Karly (Dean) Stauffer and Todd (Kristin) DeBacco; eight great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.Friends will be received Thursday (today) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Rev. Fr.
