Barbara A. Lopez

Barbara A. Lopez, 80, of Monaca, passed away on December 17, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley Beaver.Born on July 27, 1937 in Bridgewater, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Frances (Hodnick) Borkovic.  She particularly enjoyed family activities, playing scrabble and puzzles.She is survived by her husband, David V. Lopez, Sr. of Monaca, two sisters; Josephine Bowan of Levittown, Pennsylvania and Jeannie (Dave) Podnar  of Chippewa Township.  Four sons; David V. Lopez, Jr. and his wife Carol, their children, Samuel and  Alivia of Beaver Falls, Dr. Thomas J. Lopez and his wife Christine of Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, Christopher A. Lopez of Monaca and Richard F. Lopez and his wife Cathy, their children; Meghan, Johnathan and Nicholas of Surprise, Arizona.  A daughter; Marianne F. Wheatley and her husband Thomas and their children, Michelle and  Matthew of Spring City, Pennsylvania.Barbara was preceded in death by her three sisters; Mary Ondrusek, Louise Bedekovic, and Mildred Snyder. Two  brothers; John and Frank Borkovic.Friends will be received on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 1 PM  in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca followed by inurnment in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to the St. John the Baptist Parish Share, Virginia Avenue and 15^th Street,  Monaca.The family would like to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice for the tender care Barbara received.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
