Barbara J. Boyer Miles, 71, of Monaca, formerly of New Sewickley Township went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 19, 2022.
Barbara was a daughter of the late Harold G. and Velma L. Gormley Boyer. Raised in Center Township, she was a graduate of Center Area High School, class of 1969. Her first job following graduation was as a secretary at the former Rochester Hospital for one of the hospital’s administrators. In June of 1972, she left that job to marry Ronald E Miles and start a family. The family fondly remembers her baking skills, particularly her cookies at Christmas and various family events. After the kids got older, she returned to the work force as an assistant manager of D & K Store at Northern Lights Shopping Center. She was later blessed with several grandchildren whom she adored. She used her love of children as a child watcher at the New Brighton Y M C A.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, Ronald E Miles with whom she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage next month. She also leaves a daughter and son and their families: Tara (Chaim) Keeling and Ronald (Laura) Miles. Her beloved grandchildren: Ron Miles (his girlfriend, Deana Efaw), Brandon (Charlie) Barnhart, Jacob Miles (his girlfriend, Kelsey Monroe), Ian Barnhart (his girlfriend Jocelyn), and Devin Barnhart. A great grandson, James Efaw. Barbara also leaves a sister Cathy Wass, a brother, Curtis (Rose) Boyer, a sister in law, Shirley Boyer, and her Poodle companion, Baker.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a brother, Harold “Butch” Boyer, a brother in law, Jeffrey Wass, a niece, Kim Boyer Kron and a nephew, Richard Wass.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 22nd from 1-4 pm and 5 pm until the time of a service at 7pm at SIMPSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. The Reverend Collene Carney will officiate.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made, if desired to the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for compassionate care Barbara received.
