Bertha I. (Fath) George, 97, a longtime Center Township resident, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Rochester Manor. Born December 15, 1917, in Center Township, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Katherine M. (Bragg) Fath. Bertha was united in marriage to Edmund K. George who preceded her in death on December 14, 2004. A loving wife and mother, she and Edmund spent many days camping at Heart’s Content in Warren County. In her younger years Bertha could be seen walking throughout her neighborhood for health and exercise. She also enjoyed knitting, and later at Rochester Manor, could be found at the bingo games.She will be sadly missed by her sister, Lyda Hood of Brighton Township; three nephews, George and his wife, Donna, and Wayne and his wife, Lil, all of New Brighton and George Summerville and his wife, Louise, of Center Township; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and two great-great-nephews and a great-great-niece.In addition to her husband and parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her only son, Edmund C. George in 1966; a brother, George J. Fath, and three sisters, Anna Summerville, Elizabeth Braddock and Catherine H. Fath.Friends will be received Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.
