C. Glenn Russell, 65, a lifelong resident of Freedom passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver.Born September 29, 1949, he was a son of the late David A. and Mary (Flook) Russell. Following graduation from Freedom Area High School in 1968, Glenn enlisted in the U S Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Upon his return from the military, Glenn gained employment with B & W Corp. where he worked until the plant closed. He later gained employment with the Freedom Boro Street Department from where he retired in 2011. Glenn was a very outgoing, social and charitable individual who without the need for notoriety volunteered his time and money to various organizations. Not one to sit still, Glenn enjoyed participating with his fellow veterans marching in the local parades. He also helped with numerous fund raising activities at the Monaca United Methodist and Unionville United Methodist Churches where he regularly attended and with benefit events at the S.O.I. Glenn was a member of a number clubs including the Eagles, V.F.W., S.O.I. and Turners. He leaves his wife, Laura Russell; a son, Sean and his wife, Janese of Center Twp.; a daughter, ‘Little’ Laura of Freedom and a son, Adam and his fiancée, Allie of Freedom.Three grandchildren, Caden, Marina and Breanna. His loving companion, Adena Easton .One of 17 children, he also leaves his siblings, Bill (Ethel) Russell, Mary Ann ‘Sis’ Putt, Douglas Russell, Keith Russell, Gail Lyons, Jim Russell, Marty Russell (and friend, Brian Demerling) and Helen Chop. A sister in law, Jane Russell and a host of nieces and nephews.In addition to Glenn’s parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters: Jackie (infant), David Robert ‘Bob’ Russell, Andrew ‘Sonny’ Russell, Rosalyn Lambert, Patricia Stempkowski, Dale Russell, Ronald Russell and Betty Grace Meeker. And a niece, Lydia Rose Russell.Friends will be received on Monday, July 13th from 2–8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca.. Friends will also be received on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of services at 11 am in the Unionville United Methodist Church, 1297 Rt #68, Rochester. Reverend Douglas B. Myers, Jr. and Reverend David R. Vaughn will officiate.
