Our most adored wife and mother; Carole A. Woods of Monaca passed unexpectedly
on March 12, 2023 surrounded by her most immediate and adored family members.
A graduate of Hopewell high school, she began her 53-year career in medicine as an
LPN at Rochester Hospital and dedicated nearly 40 years of her life to Heritage
Valley Beaver as a registered nurse and supervisor. In 2000, Carole received the
University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing Cameo of Caring Award for her
“demonstrated excellence in nursing care.”
Born in 1948, Carole is reunited forever with her parents, Kenneth “Wimpy” McCoy
and Irene McCoy; and with brother in-law Frank Albanese.
She will be forever cherished by her surviving husband of almost 51 years, Cary
Woods of Monaca, and honored by her surviving sons and daughters in-law, David
(Lisa) Woods of Chippewa, and PJ (Brandy) Woods of North Sewickley. Her life will
always influence her grandchildren Benjamin, Erin, Austin, and Maura Woods; sister
Roni Albanese; sisters and brothers in-law Marlene (Harry) McCoy and LuAnn (Tim)
Tracy, and brother in-law and sister in-law James and Nancy Woods. And, she will
live on in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, and friends.
Having lived the majority of her life as a proud resident of Monaca, she was a fervent
and devout Catholic and member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She
treasured her time at the family camp, beach vacations, and attending her
grandchildren’s sporting events and concerts.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 15th from 3pm to 7 pm at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where prayers will be offered on Thursday at 9:30 am followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 am at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Interment will follow in Mt Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell.

Sending love, prayers and condolences for the family. I worked with Carole at Rochester Hospital where she was an outstanding nurse and friend. She was always ready to help or encourage me along the way. The patients adored her. I’m happy to have known her.

Carole was a beautiful soul and an amazing nurse. She also had a wonderful sense of humor. Her smile brightened the halls of Heritage Valley. Prayers to all her family as they embark on the remainder of this journey without her.
