Charles E. Johnston, 87, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday morning, February 5, 2014, at his home.
Born June 8, 1926, in Monaca, he was the last surviving child of the late Hugh and Amelia (Koehler) Johnston. A graduate of Monaca High School, Class of 1944, Chuck, like many young men during the time, enlisted in the US Army and proudly served our country during the Great War. Following his discharge, he went on to complete his education at Geneva College, earning his degree in 1950. Chuck found employment as an employment representative for the state from where he later retired. He was a faithful member and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Monaca. Chuck was also a member of the American Legion, Post 261, in Beaver Falls and was a member for several years of the Toastmasters? Club.
He will be sadly missed by his loving and caring wife of 60 years, Marjorie Price Johnston, and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents Chuck was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh and Howard Johnston, and a sister, Alice Palmquist.
Friends will be received Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. His pastor, Rev. Beth Wierman will officiate. He will be entombed in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum.
Full military honors will be provided at 4:30 p.m. by the Beaver County Special Unit following the service at the funeral home.
