Charles W. Bennett

Charles W. ‘Bink’ Bennett, Sr., 80 of Freedom went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. His passing occurred at Heritage Valley, Beaver.Born May 4, 1936 in Monaca, he was a son of the late Wayne and Edna P. (Hawk) Bennett. In 1954 he enlisted into the US Marine Corps and was deployed to Korea. Following his return home from the war, he gained employment with J & L Steel’ Aliquippa works from where he retired as a roll grinder at the tin mill. Charles was a member of the Freedom United Methodist Church and later of the Salvation Army Church – Rochester, the former Monaca Eagles and the Rochester Eagles and a life member of the Freedom American Legion .He leaves his wife of 56 years, Lena M. Easterday Bennett. Four children: Charles Bennett, Jr., Walter Scott (Evelyn) Bennett, Janet (Bob) Linger and Calvin Bennett. Seven grandchildren: Eric, Jubeck, Craig Bennett, Derek Bennett, Scott Bennett, Jr., Rosalyn Bennett, Trevor Wallace and Shania Wallace. Three great grandchildren. One of ten children, he leaves five siblings: Geraldine Kerr, David Bennett, Trudy Finch, Leonard Bennett and Robert Bennett.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings: Roy Bennett, Edna ‘Sis’ Gillin, George Bennett and Junior BennettFriends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where services will be held on Monday at 10 am with his pastor, Lt. Brianne Spooner officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Pinewood Memorial Park, Cranberry Twp.
