Charles (Chuck) Wible Shoemaker II, 85, of Rochester passed away in his home on October 2, 2017. Chuck was born on November 3, 1931, in Aliquippa. Preceding him in death were his brother and sisters, Jack, Nancy, and Lois Jean, his son, John Shoemaker, infant grandson, Thai Shoemaker, and faithful companion, his dog, Shadow.Chuck was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. In civilian life, he was an employee of Jones & Laughlin Steel in Aliquippa for 36 years until 1986. Chuck lived his life in a way that didn’t show his age. Until the end, he maintained a sense of humor that was youthful, fraught with dad jokes, and often inappropriate, to the delight of friends and family.Chuck is survived by his wife, Christy Shoemaker; children, Matt (Tuqua) Shoemaker, Hopewell Township, DJ (Adi) Shoemaker, Zelienople, and grandsons Jaidyn and Jordan Shoemaker.Chuck is additionally survived by his sons, Chuck (Patty) Shoemaker, Beaver Falls, Don (Dawn) Shoemaker, Midland, Michigan, and daughter Robin Shoemaker, Northport, Florida, and multiple grandchildren.He is survived, as well, by much loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.He also leaves behind his special friends, Kathy and Kenny Brewer. He will be missed by his crew from the Rochester Volunteer Fireman’s Club, of which he was a member. Per Chuck’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Services are private. Instead, he wishes for his family and friends to raise a glass in his memory.
