D. Conrad Phillis, 81, of Center Twp., passed away Saturday evening, April 19, 2014, at Beaver Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, South Beaver Twp.Born Nov. 9, 1932, in Beaver, he was a son of the late Donald Earl and Doris (Sebring) Phillis.Following high school graduation, he entered the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany.Conrad was a retiree of Horsehead Inc. (ZCA) where he worked for a number of years as a draftsman and later retired as an apprentice instructor. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Center Twp. and years ago, enjoyed camping with his family at Piney Meadows Campground. Conrad previously served as a cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack #552 which met at St. Frances Cabrini.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Adela A. (Ribar) Phillis on April 4, 2012. The couple was married in 1958 and raised four boys, three of whom survive. Their son, Andrew, passed away in 2010.Conrad is survived by his son, Thomas C.; son, Dan and his wife, Beth; son, Larry and Danielle; five grandchildren, Meredith, Weston, Garrison, Devin and Keelan and a daughter-in-law, Helen and her children, Trish and Tyler. He is also survived by his younger siblings, Sandy Dunmyer and Jon (Ursula) Phillis and numerous nieces and nephews.Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 22, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, (724) 728-4000, where prayers will be offered on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Center Twp. Father Martin Bartel will be the celebrant.
