Daniel R. Grime, 92 of Monaca passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022
Born in Freedom and raised in Monaca, Dan was a son of the late William Reese and Janet M. (Fraser) Grime. After completing high school, Dan gained employment with St. Joe Lead Company as a calcining operator for two years prior to entering the U S Marine Corps in January of 1952 during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in January 1954 following his two years of duty.
Shortly after entering the military, Dan was united in marriage to Janet Lee Marion Mark on May 24, 1952. The couple was blessed with four children. Janet predeceased Dan on June 2, 2011.
Dan was quite involved in the community. He was a longtime member and now retired from the Monaca #4 Vol. Fire Department where he had served as secretary, a former member and past secretary of the Monaca Quarterback Club, former member and secretary of the Monaca Bantam Basketball League, former Monaca Midget Baseball coach and a former co manager of Monaca Little League Baseball. He was a longtime member of the Monacrest Free Methodist Church and past trustee. Dan was employed with St Joe Lead Co for 31 years retiring as a utility worker followed by employment at D. T. Watson Home, Sewickley and the Freedom School District in their maintenance departments.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Dan was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret “Peg” Herman.
He leaves four children: Nancy Priddy, Cashmire Leigh, Daniel M (Rita) Grime and Gary (Lori) Grime. Six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, William Roy (Tess) Grime and a sister, Janet Minnitte.
Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday, June 7th from 10 am until the time of services at 11 am at SIMPSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. His pastor, Reverend Collene Carney will officiate. Military honors will be rendered at 11:40 am by the Beaver County Special Unit at the funeral home. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hill Memorial Park, Rochester.
