David Francis Rubino, 73 of Monaca, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 23, 2020 at his home.

Born on December 4, 1946 in Rochester, he was the son of the late Charles W., Sr. and Frances (Ciccone) Rubino.

A Vietnam Veteran, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hooper as a Quartermaster third class. After returning home from the Navy, he attended the Dean Institute of Technology receiving a degree in Architectural Drafting. Dave was employed at the Beaver County Times as a Pressman, and H.H. Robertson where he worked in the Engineering Department and held various positions, and later as a Production Supervisor for US Airways from where he retired. David was a 1964 graduate of Monaca Senior High School and was co-chairman of his class reunions for the past 35 years with his dear friend, James Lucic. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the American Legion, and the Sportsmen’s Club all in Monaca. Dave loved his motorcycles and especially riding them as often as weather permitted. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed going to his cousin, Carl Ciccone’s camp with friends on a routine basis. Dave is now reunited in Heaven with his cats, Shadow and Louis, which he dearly loved and missed.

David is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donna (Casciato) Rubino, two brothers; Charles W., Jr. and wife Sandy Rubino, and Leland Rubino. His nieces and nephews; Lisa Rubino Regney (Shawn Keefe), William Rubino (Cindy), Trena Rubino Sepos (Eric), Darrin Rubino (Michelle), great niece Brianna Regney, and great nephew Christian Sepos. His niece and Goddaughter, Cristina Jo Casciato (Jason Boatright) and great niece, Bailee Jo Boatright.

Please join us for a celebration of Dave’s life to be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 2:00 to 6:00 in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. and a Memorial Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 10:00 am. Social distancing and wearing masks are requested in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Due to the Covid-19 virus there was a private family viewing and service held on March 31, 2020.

I am still saddened by his loss. We were so close as cousins. We did so much together over the years. It is just not the same without him here. He is missed very much.

Joe and I will miss Davey sooooo much. So glad we always made time to hang out and visit with you when we came home. We will treasure the memories.

I just learned about "Bino's" passing today. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a true Dutch uncle and growing up I thought he was the coolest guy on the block. So many happy memories I have with him. He'll never be forgotten.

Donna, Heidi and I want to express our deepest sympathy on Dave's passing. Dave and I shared so many good times during our .HH Robertson years, both at and outside of work. He was a truly great guy and a good friend. Please know that you are in our thoughts during this difficult time.

I remember the times we would go in a shed behind his house and smoke cigarettes with Mickey, Tim and Dave and then I would get in trouble with my mother because she smelled the smoke in my clothes. My sincere condolences. He was a good childhood friend.

I remember Dave from when he participated in an annual fishing tournament called the Gabby Hayes Memorial Fishing Expedition (check us out at gabbyhayes.net) at Cross Fork, Pa., always on opening day weekend of Pennsylvania trout season in mid-April He always seemed to laugh a lot and make us all laugh. In 1979, when I caught the largest trout as a rookie on opening day, I was anxiously awaiting the awarding of the trophy, called the Gabby. (The person who catches the largest trout on opening day -- always a Saturday -- is declared the winner of our tournament.) But that year, the fishing on opening day was very bad. Among about 12 guys in our camp, only four trout were caught on opening day, and mine was the largest at about 11 inches. That night around the campfire, there was serious discussion about extending the competition into Sunday. But Dave, who was from the Pittsburgh area (as were most guys, but I was from Philadelphia), was adamantly against such breaking of tradition; he noted that I caught the largest trout, as meager as it was, and insisted that I get the trophy. He punctuated his support of me by saying -- this is a direct quote -- "The next thing we know you'll want to take it away from him because he's from Philadelphia!" The laughter after his remark ended the debate, and I was awarded the trophy. At that point, Dave made a friend for life. As the saying goes, one good deed deserves another: The next year Dave caught the largest trout, and I had the honor of presenting the trophy to him.

Donna, I am so very sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences to you and all of Dave's family.

This a very sad day for me. The Speyer Avenue girls including me had a crush on Davie!! We even had a song we sang for him and a couple of other older cuties on our street. Always a gentleman his parents raised him right. Davie you are missed

I am still in shock from hearing the news of Dave's untimely passing. He was always so full of life - especially on his "bike". I don't know how many times he passed our house riding with no helmet and my husband telling him he should be wearing one. Dave always answered, "I'll be fine". He was a treasured friend who always had a smile and hug - love ya, Dave - Rest In Peace

I was shocked with Dave’s passing. No one could have had a better friend. Rest In Peace buddy.

Cousin Dave was like a second brother to me. We shared many events together all of our lives. Dave was always available to give advice and encouragement and lend a helping hand. His passing leaves a giant hole in my heart. Dave always brought sunshine into a room and a smile to my face. I will miss him more than words can express. I am saddened by Dave’s passing. I grew up with Dave and his brothers, and I got to know his dad who I liked very much. He always had a good story or a joke to tell. The Rubino’s were some of the best people in our neighborhood.
