Dennis Keith McPherson, 72, of Vanport, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017.Born on January 23, 1945, he was the son of the late Burton Kerns and Lula Sue (Hogue) McPherson. Following graduation from Aliquippa High School in 1963, Dennis entered the US Air Force and proudly served from 1963 until 1967 during the Vietnam War. Returning home, Dennis found employment with St. Joe Minerals, which was later known as Horsehead Inc. and ZCA from where he retired. He later worked part time at Marshall’s Department Store in Center Township. Dennis was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Center Township, a retired member of the Center Township Volunteer Fire Department # 2, Steelworker’s Union #8183, and currently Van Buren Mens’ Club. He enjoyed golfing, watching the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins, and traveling to Disneyworld with family.Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Judith Ellen (May) McPherson, two daughters; Hazel (Keith) Plummer, Sue (George) Boyd, one brother, Frank (Linda) McPherson, two sisters; Sandy (Ertsol) Mayle, Lola (Chuck) Kugel. Five grandchildren; Chelsea, Tyler, and Piper Plummer, Colin and Shelby Skidmore, his therapy dog, Minnie and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his stepmother, Dorothy Ruth (Luzelle) McPherson who entered his life following the death of his mother when he was twelve years old., a brother, Burton Mitchell McPherson, and a sister, Carol Sue Jodikinos.Friends will be received on Friday, December 22, 2017 in the Tatalovich Funeral Home, 3475 Brodhead Road, Monaca (Center Township) from 4:00 to 8:00 pm with a funeral service on Saturday at 12:00 noon with Dennis Petrie officiating.
