Dolores (Dolly) Selby, of New Sewickley Township (formerly of Monaca) passed away on June 24, 2023.
Dolly was a 1969 graduate of Monaca High School and a 1973 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. She practiced her profession for over 40 years and for the past 15 years was a Lead Construction and Environmental Consultant with Wells Fargo Bank where she evaluated risks to the bank due to environmental contamination at collateral properties, as well as evaluating construction risks by analyzing complex situations and providing guidance to loan officers so they could make informed lending decisions.
Dolly was a thoughtful and caring person who welcomed into her home and selflessly cared for her grandmother Thresa Short, stepfather James (Pappy) Riddle, her second stepfather Doctor Edward (Ted) McClain, and her uncle John Short, all of whom have predeceased her. She likewise cared for her mother Dolores, who has been with her for the past 20 years.
Dolly was an avid gardener who also enjoyed working on her house, regularly embarking on home improvement and remodeling projects such as laying hardwood flooring and finishing the basement. She was also a talented mechanic who maintained the many pieces of equipment used on her 15-acre property. She enjoyed crafts and gifted many of her friends and family with her creations. Dolly was a great cook who loved to entertain and thought nothing of putting out the fine china, silver, and crystal for large groups.
Dolly is survived by her mother Dolores McClain, New Sewickley Township and her brother Steve Preda, Stafford, Virginia. She is also survived by a son and six nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry and her sisters Terry and Mary Ann.
Friends will be received on Monday, July 3rd from noon until 2 pm with a blessing service to follow at 2 pm with Reverend Matt McClain, officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Dolly’s memory to the Penn State Extension, Beaver County Master Gardener Program, 2583 Gateway Drive, Suite #200, State College, PA. 16801

Dolly was a very dear & close friend of mine. We have known each other a long time. She will be missed by many. Sending my deepest sympathy & prayers to the Preda & Selby families. She was taken from us way to soon. RIP Dolly. You’ll never be forgotten.

I have fond memories of Dolly from high school. We were in the graduating class of 1969. She was such a nice person and friendly to everyone. My condolences to the family.

Our sincere condolences to all of Dolores’ family and loved ones. Dolores supported the UK team here at Wells Fargo from afar. Her patience and kindness was such a fantastic attribute and it was reassuring to know that she was always there whenever we had problems, no matter what the time! Over the years she worked really hard to support the UK team with our environmental challenges and although she wasn’t based in the UK, she was most definitely a valued member of the UK team. All of us will miss her terribly and it seems difficult to think that such a kind and lovely lady is no longer with us. However, it has been an honour and privilege to have got to know her over these years and we will certainly miss hearing her lovely voice and laughter! I worked with Dolores at Wells Fargo over the last 10 years and she was amazing. I took over some of her territory during a reshuffle and she was a huge help geting my feet underneath me with some states I was unfamiliar with. I really enjoyed working with her and when she mentioned that she'd never had grits and wasn't really sure what they were, I tried to send some to her. She basically hid from me because I think she was scared of trying to cook grits. But I know she would have nailed it. I was absolutely devastated to hear of her and her sister's passing. She was a rockstar in the environmental field and I am definitely better off having known her. My family and I are praying for her, her sister, her son, and your family during this unfathomable time.

Steve and family, my deepest sympathies on the passing of your sisters. My heart just breaks at your sudden loss. May God Bless you all during these difficult days and may Dolly and Mary Ann Rest in Peace.

I want to offer my sincerest condolences to Dolores’ family and loved ones. I worked with Dolores on the same team. She was a wonderful teammate, always generous with her time, to say nothing of her knowledge and experience. She was so kind to me earlier this year when I lost my father, and I relied on her alot during that time. She was a kind, friendly and giving person and I’m tremendously sad she is gone. My deepest condolences to her loved ones.

Dolly was a wonderful person who would do anything for you when she entered the room. It was like a light went on rest in peace Dolly you will be missed.

I remember a very sweet Dolly Preda from high school…very smart, very hardworking and everyone’s friend. RIP Dolly ❤️
