Donald C. ?Red? Evans, 85, of Monaca, passed away Friday morning, January 3, 2014.
Born December 2, 1928, in Eastvale, he was a son of the late John and Hazel Bell Shepard Evans. Donald was also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Schneider Evans on March 3, 2010. He retired from Armstrong World Industries as a forming supervisor after 38 years of service. He was a member of Monacrest Free Methodist Church, the Beaver County Retired Men?s Club and Men of Melody Men?s Choir. Wednesday mornings were special as he and others gathered together for the ?Wednesday Breakfast Club?. Donald enjoyed puttering around the house and playing golf, along with rooting for the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Jeffrey Evans and his wife, Dana, of Koppel; his daughter, Tracey Christy and her husband, Chris, of Baldwin, New York; two grandchildren, Samantha Mersing and her husband, Jason, of Koppel and Blair Evans of Macon, Georgia; a great-grandson, Nicholas Mersing; a sister, Elaine Malovich of Fombell and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Donald was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy (Leo) Reed, Hazel (Lou) Regna, Leah (Keener) White and Theda (Dutch) McGowan; a brother, John Evans and a brother-in-law, Steve Malovich.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. His pastor, Rev. Doug Rabe, will officiate.
Entombment will follow in the Beaver Mausoleum.
