Donald E Tellish, 87 of E. Palestine, Ohio and formerly of Aliquippa was reunited with his best buddy Boomer and his other canine companions on Friday, August 26, 2022.
Born and raised in Aliquippa, Don was a graduate of Aliquippa High School and attended Community College of Beaver County. He entered the U S Army in 1957 and honorably served two years stationed at Ft Meade, Maryland. Don was employed as a mechanic with the former J & L Steel Corporation’s Aliquippa works and then began a career in law enforcement with the Center Township Police Department. From 1973 until 1994 he was an independent truck owner / operator. His first truck was the Spirit of 76, with several more to follow. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and spending time at his camp in Tionesta. At home, he was known for maintaining a pristine lawn and was called the ’mayor’ of Unity Township.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Tellish and Martha (White) Tellish Hysong and a brother, Dennis Hysong.
He leaves his beloved of 43 years, Rose Rudish Tellish. to whom he was united in marriage on June 23, 1979. Three children: Michele (Paul) Equale of Maryland, Gregory (Joan) Tellish of South Carolina and Jennifer Tellish of Ohio. Six grandchildren: Christopher, Gabrielle and Michael Equale and Anthony, Daniele and Gregory Tellish. Four half brothers: Franklin ‘Dewey’ Hysong, Robert Hysong, Ralph Hysong and Charles ‘Chuck’ Hysong.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 4 -6 pm at Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, PA . A service will follow at 6 pm. Inurnment will take place later at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made, if desired to a favorite pet charity or St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
