Donald L. “Monty’” Montgomery, 82 of Monaca passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Heritage Valley, Beaver after undergoing a cardiac procedure.
Born in Qulin, MO., he was a son of the late Ernest and Syble Montgomery. After graduating from
Qulin High School, Monty entered the U S Navy and honorably served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. A Zinc Corporation of America retiree, Don had been employed at the plant for 37 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed spending time at Flying Fynn Campground, East Palestine, Ohio and and was a faithful member of Monacrest Free Methodist Church, Monaca.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred I. “Winnie” Montgomery on October 29, 2020 and three brothers: Wilbert, Lendal and Dale Montgomery.
He leaves two children: David (Jan Baker) Montgomery of Monaca and Amanda (Steven) Marchetelli of Neville Island. Three grandchildren: David Montgomery ( Paige Pegher), Steven (Chris) Mozes and Lexi (Tom) Medovitch. Seven great grandchildren: Sam, Rosie, John, Alice, Janna, Bree and Tessa. Two sisters in law, Shirley and Lori. His best friend, Jim Eaton.
Friends will be received on Wednesday , February 15th from 3-7 pm at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, PA . Additional visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 am until the time of services at 11 am at Monacrest Free Methodist Church, 995 Elmira Street, Monaca.
Military honors will be provided at 11:40 am at the church by the Beaver County Special Unit. Private interment will follow at Beaver Cemetery.
It has been suggested that memorial contributions be made in Monty’s memory, if desired to the church. The family wishes to express a note of gratitude to Dr. Christopher Morgan and the cardiac nursing staff (especially Ann) at Heritage Valley, Beaver for their care and concern.
