Donald O. John, 83, of Brighton Township, formerly of Monaca, was called Home on Monday June 6, 2016. His passing occurred at Heritage Valley Beaver.Born March 16, 1933, in Rochester, he was the only child of the late Orin Rennick and Mildred (Sayre) John. Donald was employed at Westinghouse in Vanport for 48 years before retiring in 1993. Friends at work often referred to him as “Waterdog”. Donald was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing in various locations including Conneaut Lake where he won a trophy for the muskie he caught. A longtime member of Monaca United Methodist Church and a former member of the BPOE Elks in Beaver Falls, Fort McIntosh Club in Beaver and Saxon Club in Monaca. He also enjoyed shooting pool. Don was a graduate of Monaca High School, Class of 1954.He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife of 61 years, Doris Jean (Willoughby) John, whom he was united in marriage on February 25, 1955; a daughter, Donna Jean Johnston and her husband, David W.; two granddaughters, Amanda J. (Mike) Melnyk and Krystle (Shawn) McCartney; a great-granddaughter, Cassidy Grace Melnyk and an expected great-grandson, Logan John McCartney. Donald is also survived by first close cousins, Dan John, Doris Dawson and Barb John, along with numerous second cousins, all of whom were very special to him.Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. with his pastor, Rev.
