Donna R. Cook, 87 of Vanport, formerly of Center Township passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Heritage Valley, Beaver.
Born in Pittsburgh, Donna was one of eight children born to the late Robert D and Edna Thomson. Her father was the manager of Chartiers Cemetery on Noblestown Road, Carnegie.
She and William J. Cook were united in marriage on October 9, 1954 in her hometown of Carnegie and in 1957 made their home in Center Township. Donna was quite active in her children’s school activities as midget football, Little League and band parents. She was a longtime member of the Redeemer Trinity Lutheran Church, Monaca and the Joy Circle of the church and a former member of the LCW (Lutheran Christian Women) and Center Township Volunteer Fire Department #2 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed meeting with her friends on Tuesdays for their bimonthly card club and had previously had been a member of a bowling league at Center Lanes. She had 18 years of employment as a pharmacy tech at The Medical Center, Beaver.
On November 6, 2013, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, William J ‘Cookie’ Cook, Sr. She was also preceded by her parents and six of her siblings: Charles Thomson, Virginia Keller, Robert Thomson, Mabel Cook, Jean Baumiller and Shirley Frobe. Her only living brother, Harold (Betty) Thomson.
She leaves her three children: William J. (Tamara) Cook, Jr of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, Donald (Linda) Cook of Rochester and Pamela (William) Helterbran of Chippewa. Three grandchildren: William (Courtney) Cook, David (Samantha) Cook and Chelsey (Will) Sorokes.
Friends will be received on Sunday, November 20th at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca (724 728 4000) from 1 PM – 7 PM and on Monday, November 21st from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM at Redeemer Trinity Lutheran Church, 819 Washington Avenue, Monaca with her pastor, Reverend Angela Smith, officiating. Private interment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made in her memory to Redeemer Trinity Lutheran Church, Monaca.
