Doris Mae (Verban) Potosnak, 77, of Monaca, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 20, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver.Doris had resided most of her life in Monaca in the same home on Marshall Road where she was born on October 22, 1936, the last of four children to the late Paul and Mary (Cefrick) Verban. A 1954 graduate of Monaca High School she was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca, where she taught CCD classes. Doris was also a member of the Beaver Valley Mothers of Twins Club and Pennsylvania Organization of Mothers of Twins, where she served as president and treasurer.An employee of US Airways Stores Department, retiring with over 24 years of service, Doris also worked as a civilian for the US Air Force at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio; McCord AFB in Tacoma, Washington and 911th Tactical Airlift Group at Greater Pittsburgh International Airport.Surviving are a son, Richard Verban (Kimberly) Potosnak of Indianapolis, Indiana; three daughters, Juli Ana (Glenn) Williams in South Carolina and twins, Mari Beth (Dean) Sylvester of New Brighton and Mari Ann Miller of Rochester; eight grandchildren, Paul Potosnak, Lori E. Williams-Shroyer, Victoria Williams, Brian Sylvester, Megan Sylvester, Olivia Hempleman, Kristen Miller and Carla Miller-Wells; a great-granddaughter, Hayden Shroyer; a sister-in-law, Helen Verban and a special niece, Beth Lovrekovic Ramsey and her family of Panama City, Florida, as well as many other nieces and nephews and special friends, Carol Baldauf and Barbara Shaban.In addition to her parents Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Sue Potosnak, who preceded her on June 22, 1989; two brothers, Paul Verban and Steve Verban; a sister, Diana Verban Lovrekovic and a dear friend, Mary Hurray.Friends will be received Saturday, August 23rd, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca, with Father Thomas J. Burke officiating.Following the mass she will be laid to rest adjacent to her daughter, Lori, in the parish cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3500 Brooktree Road, Wexford, PA 15090.She will be missed by the many souls that she has touched during her life on earth.
