Dorothy E. Stillwagon Phillips, 85, formerly of Hopewell Twp. and more recently of Monaca, passed away Monday, October 3, 2011, at Friendship Ridge where she had resided for the past five years.
Born March 28, 1926, in Aliquippa, she was a daughter of the late Samuel T. Sr. and Esther R. Stillwagon. Dorothy was married to Alfred Gerald Phillips who preceded her in death on January 18, 1974. A member of Bunker Hill Community Church, Center Twp., she was previously employed at the former Aliquippa Hospital in housekeeping.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Gerald Thomas (Elizabeth) Phillips, of Fredericksburg, VA; two daughters, Nancy (Tom) Somers, of Cranberry Twp. and Amy (Greg) Tyrl, of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Molly, Curtis, Alaina, Sloan and Tate; two brothers, Richard E. (Juanita) Stillwagon and Leroy W. (Mary) Stillwagon, all of Center Twp.; two sisters, Harriet (Pat) McDonald, of Monaca and Geraldine (Earl) Grim, of Raccoon Twp.; numerous nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Mike Neely.
In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel T. Stillwagon, Jr., Robert D. Stillwagon, Sr. and James L. Stillwagon and three sisters, Etta Engle, Anna Lewisa Stillwagon and Betty Jane Stillwagon.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with her pastor, Rev. Paul Zaperach, officiating.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Aliquippa.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bunker Hill Community Church, 170 Pleasant Drive, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
