Dorothy G. Wolf, 95, formerly of Center Twp. and Monaca, most recently residing with her daughter, Linda Smith of Canfield, OH, entered into rest Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Hospice of the Valley, Poland, OH.
Born June 18, 1916, in Old Economy (Ambridge), she was the last surviving child of the late Henry S. and Myrtle (Stoffel) Goerman. A graduate of Ambridge High School, she was employed at H.H. Robertson, Ambridge, as a keypunch operator. On September 20, 1940, she married William John Wolf, who preceded her in death on February 21, 1998. A devout member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Dorothy had served as the secretary of the Sunday school program and also taught for many years. Dorothy loved cooking and baking, collecting angels and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Gary R. and wife Susan Wolf, of Pittsburgh, and daughter, Linda M. and husband Terry Smith, of Canfield, OH; four grandchildren, Scott T. Wolf, Steven J. and wife Lynda Wolf, Megan and husband Jeff Kandel, and Courtney Smith; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Abby and Ethan Wolf, and Bryn, Mara and Nora Kandel, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry S. Goerman and John ‘Jack’ Goerman, and a sister, Marjorie Messner.
A private family viewing and funeral service was conducted Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, (724-728-4000). Her pastor, Rev. Keith Getz, and Rev. Joanne Dota, Chaplain for Hospice of the Valley, co-officiated.
Interment followed in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
