Dorothy Jean (VanKirk) Pierce, 87 of Beaver, formerly of Koppel passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 31, 2011 at Heritage Valley, Beaver.
Born April 20, 1924 in Darlington, she was a daughter of the late Jess and Bessie (Willis) Van Kirk.
She leaves a son, Glenn R. Pierce and his wife, Sarah of Wampum who were her pride and joy.
Her grandchildren: Michael (Melissa) Evans and their children: Jordon and Joel of Bethel Park; Joseph (Carrie) Evans and their children, Athena and Paris of Rochester; Thomas Evans of Hanscom Air Force Base, MA.and his children, Ashlynn and Zachariah. A sister, Beverly (Gene) Randza of Mesa, Ariz. and their daughter, Jennifer Harris and Family and their son, Steve Van Kirk of Ariz. A brother, Ronald (Margaret) Van Kirk and Family of Dayton, OH. Her beloved nieces and nephews: Joseph (Marsha) Benetti and Family of Darlington, Louise Svihra and Family of Enon Valley, John Benetti of Enon Valley, Jeanette (David) Tullis of New Galilee, Lorraine Toppetta and Family of Freedom, Thomas Danylo of Koppel, Pete Danylo and Family of Duncansville, Annette Feingold and Family of Covington, WA., John Pietrandrea of WA., A special nephew, Gene ?Augie? Toppetta of Beaver, a good friend Mike DeHaven of Glenallen, VA., and special kindness to Heather (Michael) Markovich. A canine friend, Boaz.
In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Glenn Pierce in 1971 and an infant son, Ron. She was also preceded by brothers and sisters: Jess Jr., Clifford, and James VanKirk, Eliza ‘Louise’ Benetti, Nancy Bracken and Patricia Danylo.
Dorothy was employed for a number of years at A.D. Campbell Funeral Homes. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo at King Beaver Apts., making ribbon crosses for family and friends, reading , music and dancing and entertaining at her home.
Friends will be received Wednesday, Jan 4th from 10 am until the time of services at 11 am at the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca. A.T. Massey, pastor of First Baptist Church, Freedom, will officiate. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery, Wampum.
