Dorothy “Tex” Kinney Trella, 96, formerly of Monaca passed away on March 25, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.
Born January 12, 1926, daughter of the late Francis and Blanche (Saix) Kinney. Dorothy cared for her mother for many years while working at the A&P in Beaver Falls. After marrying Whip they purchased the Monaca Inn. Tex would do all of the shopping for the Inn as well as working in the kitchen during the day. In the evenings she would work behind the bar. She was known for not putting up with any “crap”. If you were causing trouble she threw you out. When she could get away from work she loved camping, boating and loved to dance, especially the polka, jitter bug, and chacha. Tex and Whip even enjoyed a vacation to Cancun where she drove a quad and speed boat.
When the Monaca Inn was sold they moved to Florida and she started golfing, playing tennis, and softball. She made friends everywhere she went. She even enjoyed performing in skits that were put on by the senior group she belonged to.
She moved back to Monaca and continued her busy life style. Eventually she started going to bingo. She loved it so much and her buddy Rose was always with her.
She also loved dogs and always enjoyed when Zoey would come to pick her up from bingo. She would get in the car and give her kisses and hugs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Whip, Sister Betty (Bill) Veon, brothers Joe and Bill (Pat), nieces Candy (Ron) Tuccinard and Joanne Veon and nephew Ron Ramer.
She is survived by her niece Debbie Ramer, nephews, Bill (Janet) Veon and Rich Veon and numerous nieces and nephews, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Martin (Marie) Trella.
We would like to thank the staff at Friendship Commons and Life Beaver County for their kindness and loving care and to Rose for being such a great friend.
We find peace in knowing she is reunited with her loving family and friends, laughing, dancing, and playing bingo.
Thank you, Aunt Dorothy for always being there for us. We love you.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 29th from 2-4 pm ad 6-8 pm at SIMPSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where prayers will be offered on Wednesday at 9 am followed by a mass of Christian burial at 9:30 am at Mary, Queen of Saints (St John the Baptist Catholic Church), Monaca .
