Edwin R. ‘Ray’ Taucher, 91 of Burgettstown, died Monday, May 8, 2023. He was born June 26, 1931, a son of Frank and Margaret O’Hara Taucher.

Prior to retirement, Ray was employed as an electrician for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in Follansbee, WV.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Burgettstown, the American Legion, and the Burgettstown Italian Club.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Korean War.

Ray enjoyed hunting at his camp, “Iron City Camp” in Clearfield, PA where his friends, Rick, Stanley, Big Bill, Snookie, Gizmo, Larry, Tommy and Freddie often accompanied him. They were all instrumental in its construction. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, Pirates and the new Maulers fan, cheering them on while wearing each appropriate hat.

Surviving is his wife, Gale Lawson Taucher, son, David Taucher, daughter, Lynn S. Taucher, grandson, Jesse Taucher, and brother, Gene Taucher. Also surviving is Rick Bernola, who was like a son to him and a brother-in-law, Lynn Lawson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 24. More information will follow at a later date.

Gayle, this is your cousin Pat Lydon, Gladyce Lawson boy. Willa Lawson emailed to let me know of your loss. We are so sorry, please accept our sincerest condolences. We live in Georgia and I had stopped in Florence Pa to visit the graves last year. Most of our family are buried in the McKeesport area so when we’re up for a visit we try paying our respects. It had been awhile since visiting Burgettstown. Your dad’s headstone brought back pleasant memories of times long ago. God Bless !

I will never forget the loved one’s that have been influential to me when I was young. The wonderful memories that I have of Ray will be with me forever. Tyke, David, Lynn Sue please know that my heart is with you right now. God Bless. My family in heaven is growing.
