Eileen Rose Hlista, 78 of Monaca, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Eileen was born in Pittsburgh on July 18, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth Kavanaugh. Her younger days were spent living in Wexford. She graduated from North Catholic High School in 1960 and soon was working for G. C. Murphy Company. She married Rich Hlista on March 26, 1971. They were looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Eileen loved cooking and entertaining her guests. She truly loved traveling and Florida was one of her favorite destinations with her close friend, Kathy Bogar, and all of the children. Eileen was such a loving and kind person. She will be sadly missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Rich, five children, Michael Hlista (Maria), Beth (John) Lakas, Heather Hlista Claypole, Taralyn Hlista, and Richard Hlista, II, 14 grandchildren, Chris (Sammy) D’Antonio, Brian D’Antonio, Anthony D’Antonio, Jesse D’Antonio, Thomas D’Antonio, Philip Johnson, Sage Johnson, Stevie Rae Claypole, Maddox Claypole, Jade Hlista, Noah Hlista, Joseph Clark, Van, and Natalya, three great grandchildren, Raylee D’Antonio, Carmen D’Antonio, and Steel D’Antonio and close friends Leila Doran Pinter, Dee Hammerle, Judy Hermes, and Cathy Corcoran.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest son, Peter Thomas Hlista.
Friends will be received on Sunday, February 7, 2021 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 WASHINGTON AVENUE, MONACA, where prayers will be offered at 10:30 am on Monday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Interment will be in the Parish cemetery.
