Elda E. Sebastian, 91, of Monaca, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 7, 2012, in Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford.

Born March 3, 1921, in Venice, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Giovanni and Rosa Rizzetto. Married in Italy to Joseph F. Sebastian, who was serving in the US Army during World War II, Elda was recognized as Beaver County?s first war bride. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Mrs. Sebastian was a talented crocheter who made blankets, afghans and clothing for family and friends until she could no longer do so. She was a retiree of Westinghouse Electric in Vanport.

Elda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph, on June 20, 1992; a brother, Franklin Rizzetto and a grandson, Lucas Sebastian.

Surviving are three sons, Fred Sebastian of Spartanburg of N. Carolina, Greg (Marci) Sebastian of Economy and Gary (Tina) Sebastian of New Sewickley Township; six grandchildren, Amber, Jason, Stacy, Kristin, Leah and Cara; five great-grandchildren, Mattison, Anthony, Abigail, Rebecca, and Taylor. Also, a brother, Angelo (Anna) Rizzetto and their son, Luca, and a sister-in-law, Stefania Rizzetto and her daughter, Floriana, all of Rome, Italy, and a special niece, Carolyn.

Friends will be received Wednesday, October 10th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Fr. Michael Ruffalo will be the celebrant.

Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to Good Samaritan Hospice House, 3500 Brooktree Road, Suite 320, Wexford, PA 15090.

I was saddened to learn of Elda's passing today. I had the very great pleasure and privilege of growing up across the street from Elda--with her almost as my surrogate mother. I've never known a kinder or gentler person.

It is with great love and respect to ALL of my cousins and my dear Aunt Elda (and Uncle Sibbi) that I write this note of sympathy and thanks. Having experienced a loss of a parent myself, the entire tribute, viewing and funeral mass of your dear Mother was one so very perfectly done, she IS, I know for certain very proud of ALL of you. Having such love,respect and graditude shown in this most difficult time, will in time give all of us comfort and peace, truly it will. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to share with all of you this time to lay her to rest and spend time with your extended family. What is truly evident to me is, what Elda and Sibbi tried to teach thier children and grandchildren and how they lived thier lives, has been dually noted, passed on and still lives in all of you. Love of God, family and country- for this we should ALL be truly thankful. A quote from the Bible that is so appropriate and fitting that comes to my mind goes something like this..."WELL DONE MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT, NOW ENTER INTO PARADISE WITH YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER"....I know my Aunt Elda is there now with all she loved so dearly on this earth, hold onto to the belief and keep your faith, that one day we will ALL be togehter there forever....AMEN Words can not express my graditude for the special treasure you boys (and Marci and Tina, I'm sure)decided to give me from your Mother., I am so humbled and truly overwhealmed with your gesture of love., I can hardly take it in, but promise it will be taken care of, treasured, used and passed on someday to my children.
