Elena Pelaia

Elena (Pace) Pelaia, age 85, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Heritage Valley, Beaver.She was a resident at Brighton Rehab & Wellness Center in Brighton Township for the past 11 years.Elena was born on March 6, 1932, in Serra San Bruno, Italy, to the late Angelo and Antoinetta (Belcamino) Pace.Elena was devoted to her family and lived in Monaca PA for over 40 years.  She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca.She was preceded in death by husband Sam and step-daughter Theresa Pelaia, brothers; Raffaele Pace, Italy, Terzo Pace, Canada, and a sister Radigonda Timpano, Italy.Elena is survived by sisters, Maria Pace and Mafalda (Pierino) LoStracco, Canada, and also many nieces and nephews in Italy and Canada.The family wishes to thank the caring and patient staff on 3 West for their many kindnesses to Elena (she was just a wee bit stubborn!).  A huge thank you to Dr. Pallone for communicating with Elena in her native Italian which was a great comfort to her.  Thank you to sisters Tesi and Pat Dye for treating her so well over the years when they visited their mother on Annex 3 and to Gerri Bable and Helen Arbutina who were so very gracious to her during her stay on 3 West.Friends will be received on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of a blessing service at 10:00 am in Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.  Burial will follow in the Parish cemetery.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
