Ethel Catherine Hall, 101 1/2, of Monaca, blessed with a long life of independence, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, at home on Wednesday, September 2, 2015.Born on March 26, 1914, to Adolphe and Catherine Frank, in New Bedford, MA, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Donald Sheldon Hall, and her three brothers, Art, Wilbert, and Howard Frank.She was an avid quilter completing over 100 quilts and winning numerous blue ribbons, during her lifetime. Mrs. Hall was recently recognized as Monaca’s oldest resident. She was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church of Redeemer, an avid Steeler fan, and the last surviving member of the Double Four Girls card club, which meet for over 60 years.She is survived by daughters, Kathleen Johnson and her husband, Ronald, of Monaca, and Donna Aven and her husband, Samuel, of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; Randall Johnson and his wife, Melissa, and their children, Thomas, Abagael and step-son, Zachary; David Johnson and his wife, Linda, and their children, Lindsey, David and Matthew; Rachel Cellier and her husband, Brad, and their children, Elise and Ania; Heather Redmond and Matt Malohn and their children, Zane, Havana, and Holden; Jeffrey Aven and his wife, Kathryn, and their children, Jackson and Colton and Donald Aven and his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Tim, Stephanie, Lindsey, and Sam.Friends received on Friday, September 4th, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave, Monaca. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5th, at 11a.m., at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 819 Washington Ave, Monaca. Her pastor, Rev. Robert W. Strobel, will officiate.
