Ethel J. Smith

Ethel Jean Smith, 77, of Monaca, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017.Born on February 28, 1940 in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Jacob and Laura Ramaley.  A graduate of Beaver Falls High School, Ethel was an avid reader and had previously served on the Monaca Library Board.  She had a soft spot in her heart for cats, adored her grandchildren, and was a retiree of the Center Township Walmart.Ethel is survived by her husband, Arland, her three children; Jeffrey (Ann Deluca) Smith, Timothy (Kathy Cronin) Smith, and Laurie (Don) Couch, ten grandchildren; Jessica, Megan (Henry), Cody, Gerald, Josh, Justin, Jennifer (Zack), Rebecca, Donny (Leah), Elizabeth (Dylan Sodergren).  Five great grandchildren; Madison, Kaylee, Alayna, Rylee, and Zane.  Two brothers in law; Myron Sorrels and Don (Ellen) Smith. Also numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Murry (Ann) Ramaley, and sisters; Evelyn (Sigg) Brooks, Sara (Ken) Bortz, Marie (Joe) Kazuski, and Elma Sorrels.Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 pm until the time of service at 8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue.  Pastor Lee Bittner will officiate.Memorial contributions may be made in her memory, if desired to the Monaca Public Library, 998 Indiana Avenue, Monaca, PA  15061 or the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Road, Center Township, PA  15001.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
