Fragolina Avolio, 87, of Monaca, was reunited with her late husband, John, on Monday, May 14, 2012.
Born December 23, 1924, in Pacentro, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Carlo and Almerindo (Mancini) Tollis. She and John Avolio were married on March 18, 1946, in her hometown of Pacentro. Mrs. Avolio will be remembered for her great cooking and baking skills, and hosting Sunday family dinners. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca, and the parish?s Christian Mothers. Mrs. Avolio was a retiree of Monaca School District.
She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Anna Pizutti and her husband, Frank, of Economy, Angela Brondou and her husband, Gerry, of Moon Twp. and Joanna Fitzgerald and her husband, David, of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Jeff (Darlene) Pizutti, Stefanie Pizutti, Matthew Fitzgerald and Nicole Fitzgerald; a sister-in-law, Maria Tollis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Avolio was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, in 2003, and her brother, Vincenzo Tollis.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Rev. Fr. George Chortos will be the celebrant.
Entombment will follow in Beaver Mausoleum.
