Franklin D. Andrews, 83, of Center Township, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning, September 5, 2016, at his residence.Born March 6, 1933, in Replete, WV, he was a son of the late George Patrick and Lovie Day Andrews. Frank proudly served in the US Army with the 81st Airborne during the Korean War before finding employment at J&L Steel, Aliquippa Works, in the blooming mill, and retiring with over 30 years of service. A life member of Center Township Fire Department #3, he was also a member of the Model A. Ford Club and several local trap shooting clubs. Frank loved to hunt and trap shoot big game all across the United States and Canada. He also travelled to Africa to hunt leopard and other large animals. As a member of the Amateur Trap Association he garnered many trophies during his lifetime.Frank will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 58 years, Virginia, and daughter, Valerie; two sisters, Gathel Sanders of Rock Cave, WV, and Vera Evans and her husband, Bill, of Clarksburg, WV, along with several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Franklin D. Jr.; three sisters, Norena, Viola and Elwanda and four brothers, Hoy, Osbourn, Jess and Noel.Friends will be received Wednesday, September 7th, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. An additional visitation will be held on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. at Straight Fork United Methodist Church in Rock Cave, WV.
