Fred E. Shannon, 63, of Center Township, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 3, 2007, after an extended illness at The Medical Center, Beaver.
Born May 14, 1944, in Rochester, he was a son of the late Fred E. and Charlotte Louise Henderson Shannon. Fred was raised in Center Township and was a 1962 graduate of Monaca High School. A U.S. Army veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged with the rank of SP-5. An electrician by trade, Fred had previously worked at the J&L Steel Corporation, Aliquippa Works. His favorite pastimes were camping and bowling.
He will be sadly missed by two daughters, Michelle Jacobs, Center Township, and Audrey Shannon, Raccoon Township; beloved grandchildren, Tori, Shenandoah, Scott (Scooter) and Dakota; his former wife, Christine Swartz; four sisters, Nancy Steele, Monaca; Doris Forse, Louisville, Ky.; Mary Jane Vandergrift, Monaca and Barbara Alger and her husband, Roy, Hopewell Township; a brother and his wife, Robert and Mary Beth Shannon, Center Township; numerous nieces and nephews; an aunt, Ada Mae Cashdollar, New Sewickley Township; several loving friends, particularly Sharon, Maryann, Pam and Alex.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, (724-775-0926), where services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with Father Paul Cwynar of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, Center Township, officiating.
Full military honors will be provided by the Beaver County Special Unit on Saturday at 9:50 a.m. at the funeral home.
