Frederick Porebski, Sr. 93 of Independence Twp. and formerly of W. Aliquippa was reunited with his late wife, Ann on Saturday morning, August 13, 2011.
Fred was born on June 10, 1918 in Aliquippa, a son of the late John and Anne (Tarter) Porebski.
He was raised in West Aliquippa where he attended St Joseph?s school and church.
He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corps? Wing 51st Troop Carrier during World War II. He entered the military in 1941 and served for over 4 years prior to being honorably discharged as a corporal on Sept 28, 1945. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal for his service.
Fred worked as a locomotive engineer at the former J & L Steel Mill.in W. Aliquippa from where he retired. He also was a television repairman and had a knack for restoring and customizing cars. Gardening was one of his favorite pastimes.
Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Krochak Porebski on May 25, 1986 and two twin sisters: Nancy and Stephanie Porebski.
He leaves three children: Michael Porebski and his wife, Judy of Raccoon Twp., Patty Porebski of Pittsburgh and Fred Porebski, Jr. and his wife, Sue of Independence Twp. Four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, Aug 16th from 2 to 8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday at 11 am . Pastor Rich Liptak of the Wildwood Chapel, Aliquippa will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Aliquippa with full military honors by the Beaver County Special Unit at 12 pm.
