Frederick L. Keefer, Sr., 74, a lifelong resident of Monaca went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 20, 2015. His passing was unexpected and occurred at his home.Born December 11, 1940, he was a son of the late Ellsworth R. and Ellener (Towery) Keefer.Following his graduation from Monaca High School in 1960, he entered the U S Army and served in the Army’s 4th battalion,30th infantry. After returning home from service, he gained employment with LTV Steel’s Aliquippa works where he remained until the mill closed. He then went to work at Hussey Copper in Leetsdale. Fred loved to golf and was a member of several golf leagues playing until his health declined. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at both of his sons camps located in Franklin and Warren, PA.Fred leaves his beloved wife of 53 years, Darla J (Gardner) Keefer. Two sons, Frederick Jr. (Lynda) Keefer and Jeffrey (Lynn) Keefer and a daughter, Kristi Keefer (Brian Porter), all of Monaca. Nine grandchildren: Leah, Mariah, Noah, Kourtney, Shannon, Randy W. Jr. and Jacob Keefer, Chelsea and Breanne Roman. Two great grandchildren, Viktoria and TaRay Wright. His mother in law, Anne Gardner of Rochester, a brother in law, George (Cheryl) Gardner, Jr. ; two sisters in law, Cheryl Caffro and Lori (Gary) McMurtrie.In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a son, Randy W. Keefer, Sr.; a brother, Raymond E Keefer, Sr. and a sister, Alvina Terry.Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 23rd from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am. The Reverend Gregory Clagg, pastor of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Committal services will follow with full military honors by the Beaver County Special Unit at 11:45 am in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
